Hello,
My name is Leanid Marozau, and I am a dedicated young scientist and expert in youth rights, originally from Belarus. I appreciate your interest in my work and welcome you to my website, where I would like to share more about my professional journey.
Currently, I serve as the Head of the Legal Department and the Advisor on Legal Affairs to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the President-elect of Belarus. From 2019 to 2024, I held the position of International Secretary of the Belarusian National Youth Council RADA. Prior to this, I spent over five years teaching international law and human rights at a university in Minsk. In 2016, I had the privilege of being a guest lecturer on human rights at a university in Vietnam, along with other institutions around the globe.
In 2017, I began lecturing on human rights at various European universities and was appointed Academic Director of the inaugural ECLAB Global Citizenship programme in Belarus. My academic contributions include authoring over 10 scholarly articles on public international law. I hold a Master’s degree in International Law. Unfortunately, in 2017, due to political pressures and threats from the KGB, I was compelled to cease my teaching career at public educational institutions in Belarus.
Since 2019, I have been an active member of the Youth Rights Group within the European Youth Forum. My involvement in this capacity led to my authorship of the first Alternative Report on youth rights in Belarus for the UN Human Rights Council in 2020 and 2022, as well as the first Alternative Report on youth rights for the UN Committee on Social, Cultural and Economic Rights.
Over the past nine years, I have had the opportunity to work and lecture in numerous countries, including the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Germany, among others. I am fluent in several languages: English, German, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish, with Belarusian as my native language. In 2021, due to political persecution by an undemocratic regime, I was forced to leave Belarus and have since been granted political refugee status in an EU country.
I am currently residing in Poznan, Poland, where I am pursuing my Doctoral (PhD) thesis at Adam Mickiewicz University on the topic of “The Formation of Youth Rights in the Context of International and European Political Systems.” Additionally, I have recently completed the Oxford University International Politics Summer School 2024, organized at St Antony’s College, Oxford.
I am open to collaboration and look forward to potential opportunities to work together.
Thank you for visiting my website, and please feel free to get in touch.
Sincerely,
Leanid Marozau
